Birst recently announced a new offering called Distributed Business Analytics aimed at allowing business users to upload and link local data—such as spreadsheets, desktop database files, and campaign lists—with the data found within a central data warehouse. The aim here is to provide users with more analysis freedom by giving them the ability to mix and merge both local and centralised data but within a controlled and managed environment. Not surprisingly we wanted to know more, so in my briefing with Brad Peters, Birst CEO, I got to dig a little bit deeper…

You can read my analysis in this briefing note. It’s free to download, you’ll just need to log in with a free account. If you don’t have one already it only takes a minute to register, and is even quicker if you have a LinkedIn account.

To accompany this briefing note you can now also download this On the Radar briefing note I wrote about Birst earlier this year. This briefing note follows a simple “ten questions” format, which we designed to provide a concise but thorough overview of a company and its products and services. We use this format to focus on the capability and suitability of specialist vendors—to help you build the best possible vendor shortlists when looking to make new technology investments. This report was previously available only to premium subscribers to our Analytics and Information Management research program, but you can now download it for free once you’ve registered for a free member account.

Are you a Birst customer? Let us know what you think about this new product and tell us how it contributes to improvement within your organisation.
