ZDNet UK — Oracle ‘donates’ OpenOffice.org to Apache foundation:

Oracle has ceded control of the OpenOffice.org code base to the Apache Software Foundation Incubator project, it announced on Wednesday.

There’s no need for me to add to David Meyer’s report. The Apache Incubator’s site is here.

I suspect news of any significant changes in the software will be some weeks or months in appearing. The last press release on the Apache Foundation’s Web site is from October 2010, so it might even be longer.

P.S. It’s been quiet in here recently because I’ve been on holiday. Now I’m back, I’m analysing the responses to the Bloor Research survey on SaaS-based enterprise social networking. I’ll post the highlights here next week.
