Workforce management technology leads to 15% reduction in operating costs
Released: 17th October 2013
Publisher: RealWire

Corporate Modelling, the workforce management technology provider, today announces that insurance outsourcer HCL IBS has won the 2013 WfMC Award for Excellence in BPM and Workflow for the Operational Excellence (“OpEx”) solution designed, built  and implemented by the two companies working together in partnership.

The OpEx project was initiated in 2009 to design, build and implement a Transaction Management Solution to manage the throughput of policyholder transactions using a factory based end to end model ensuring light touch, first in first out and one and done principles. Since the first roll out in September 2011, HCL IBS has benefitted from increased productivity and operational efficiency, including:

  • A progressive reduction in overall operating costs of 15 per cent
  • A 15 per cent plus increase in the number of transactions processed per person
  • A cultural and behavioural shift, with clearer learning tools, supporting controls and governance to encourage a fully engaged workforce
  • A measurable reduction in policyholder complaints

Paul Barrow, Deputy COO at HCL IBS UK comments, "The implementation of OpEx has led to savings, which have enhanced our competitive standing and reputation, allowing us to more credibly explore new opportunities to gain market share. In addition, as the solution becomes more embedded in the business and we implement further releases developed by ourselves and Corporate Modelling, we expect to continue to be on track to achieve the targeted 30% improvement in operational efficiencies both in our onshore and offshore business centres”

Alex Allan, COO at Corporate Modelling adds, “This award is recognition of the strong partnership we have built with HCL IBS and highlights the power of technology to make the insurance back office a more efficient and cost-effective function. Crucially, OpEx has created a positive working environment for HCL IBS employees with a more productive culture. We look forward to building on this relationship moving forward, continually learning and using IT to deliver real change in the business.”
