RandomStorm named finalist in UK IT Industry Awards

UK vendor is named as Security Innovation finalist for StormAgent log management platform
Released: 10th September 2013
Publisher: RandomStorm

Leeds, 2nd September 2013: network vulnerability management and compliance vendor, RandomStorm has been named as a finalist in the UK IT Industry Awards in the Security Innovation category, for its log management and file integrity platform, StormAgent.

Run by the British Computing Society (BCS) and Computing magazine, the annual UK IT Industry Awards are a platform for the IT profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.

StormAgent automates protective monitoring of network hosts: reducing the time required to identify potential threats from millions of log files, from hours to minutes. The latest release delivers a step-change in log management and analysis. At the core of the system, RandomStorm’s Instance, Event, Alert (IEA) algorithm identifies, classifies and stores alerts into IP and time-based Events that are associated with Instances of matched rules. Capable of processing up to twenty eight million logs per day, StormAgent categorises and stores recurring security alerts into manageable and meaningful groups associated with specific hosts across the network.

Built for SME and enterprise networks, StormAgent is highly scalable and can support diverse, multi-platform networks including Linux™, Apple Macintosh® Microsoft Windows® and IBM iSeries (AS/400) environments. Incorporating a sophisticated asset management tool, StormAgent can be configured to monitor and report on individual or grouped hosts to aid close monitoring of business-critical applications and resources.

David Clarke, MBE, Group Chief Executive Officer of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, says: “As the Chartered Institute for IT I’d like to congratulate this year’s finalists. They showcase not only the innovation and the professionalism of those working in IT, but also demonstrate the importance of IT in delivering business and social benefit.”
