2012 business results demonstrate Red Hat and Softcat are 'Stronger Together'
Released: 9th October 2013
Publisher: Softcat

Marlow, UK, 09 October 2013 – Softcat has won the ‘Stronger Together’ accolade at open source software provider Red Hat’s annual EMEA Partner Awards. The awards ceremony, held in Madrid, recognised six partners in total for their outstanding partner contributions. The ‘Stronger Together’ award recognises a particularly strong collaboration between Red Hat and Softcat, which has seen Softcat grow its Red Hat software business by over 100% last financial year.

The award comes as a result of Softcat’s 18-month investment in educating its sales team; committing to train over 200 staff on Red Hat’s portfolio. The reseller is now one of Red Hat’s largest hosting partners in the UK, providing its open source software, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, to the UK enterprise community.

David Francis, a partner services account manager at Softcat, accepted the prestigious award at the conference earlier this week. “I’m incredibly proud that we’ve achieved this, as it demonstrates the value of our continued investment in our relationship with Red Hat. The collaboration has improved the communication between our sales teams and partner account managers through sharing ideas and by making suggestions for improvements.” He added, “Softcat’s customers are already benefitting from our collaboration with Red Hat, with access to well-trained sales people who understand their business needs and how Red Hat’s open source software can help them.”

Colin Brown, Softcat’s managing director, said, “One of the reasons we’ve invested so significantly in our relationship with Red Hat is because they offer something different in the open source market. There is a growing pool of businesses in the enterprise community who need solid, safe and secure software to deliver mission critical applications. Red Hat’s solutions fit the bill.”

Petra Heinrich, vice president, Partners & Alliances, EMEA at Red Hat, said of the partner award,  “We are delighted that Softcat has been named as the winner of the Stronger Together Award at the 2013 Red Hat EMEA Partner Awards. Red Hat and Softcat have a long history of working together and their recognition with this award is a testament to the excellent relationship between our two companies. Softcat continuously demonstrates openness and willingness to learn about Red Hat and its products, and we have seen an acceleration in our collaboration with Softcat in recent years that has been of benefit to both our companies.”
