Nottingham, 4 August 2010 - Farnborough College of Technology has
appointed HR, payroll, talent management and workforce planning
specialist MidlandHR for a five-year iTrent software contract.
The College provides vocational and technical education and
training from basic skills programmes and GCSEs to degree and
Post Graduate courses. Having previously operated on disparate HR
and payroll systems from different suppliers, the College
selected MidlandHR's iTrent, a single solution for HR, payroll,
talent management and workforce planning, to manage its people.
Jim Malyon, Farnborough College accountant, comments: "The
College will implement iTrent using a phased approach, with phase
one comprising core HR and payroll which are set to become live
in July. These initial modules will be followed by further phases
with phase two including Absence, Occupational Health,
Recruitment and Employee and Manager Self Service. As well as the
standard functionality we have also adopted iTrent's
pre-configured, education-specific elements including automated
Staff Individualised Records (SIR), flexible term time
calculations and multiple employments, to help speed up
implementation time and allow us to become operational from the
"Having the iTrent solution in-house, on our own internal IT
infrastructure, was the perfect option for us. MidlandHR will be
responsible for ensuring that through iTrent we remain compliant
with the ever-changing payroll legislation, and we have also
passed on responsibility for BACS payments and payslip printing
and distribution. This will allow us to benefit from considerable
cost savings and reduce the associated risks surrounding
With the College's ambitious implementation schedule, MidlandHR's
Education Business Pack will help the HR and payroll teams to hit
the ground running. With a number of pre-configured
sector-specific options, the business pack will facilitate a
quicker and smoother implementation to enable a faster return on
system benefits and efficiencies.
Lawrence Knowles, managing director of MidlandHR, comments: "This
new partnership reinforces MidlandHR's strength in the education
sector and highlights the benefits of our industry expert
approach. Farnborough College will soon experience all the
benefits of using iTrent as a single solution. These range from
increased accuracy, efficiency of process and reductions in
administration, to instant access to real-time workforce
information, supporting the college's strategic workforce
decision-making to drive organisational performance."
