Diskeeper stays ahead of the game...

Implementation sees savings and reduction in helpdesk traffic for electronics company
Released: 13th September 2010
Publisher: TopLine Communications

As a multi-national organisation, Plantronics wanted to reduce the number of calls regarding slow computers and system crashes to its IT helpdesk.

The software was initially trialled on a sample of 20 randomly selected computers, with 19 reporting faster performing systems as a result. Plantronics recognised the benefits that could be realised, and installed Diskeeper 9. The company has since upgraded to Diskeeper 2010.

According to Philip Jones, the daily defrag is now a very important contributor to high system performance: "The aspect that I find most useful is the real time defrag feature. It is good to know that Diskeeper is constantly defragging your system, using spare system resource, and there is no need to schedule or even worry about fragmentation. In fact, it has now almost disappeared into the background - speeding up performance, and requiring very little of our time to manage.'

"Diskeeper has really improved conditions across all sites in terms of productivity. Since the implementation there have been far fewer support calls for program and disk crashes. The financial benefit to the company has been massive as well. We have increased the lifespan of all PC's from 3 to 4 years."

Diskeeper has proven its worth, demonstrating the direct benefits optimisation software brings, in terms of the ability to allocate time and resources that are freed up by improving systems performance.

Sue Cantwell, Managing Director at Diskeeper UK, concluded: "The implementation at Plantronics has truly demonstrated how addressing simple fragmentation issues can lead to enormous financial and energy savings, while at the same time increasing productivity. At a time when businesses are facing cutbacks and taxes on carbon emissions, the cost of fragmentation cannot be ignored."
