O4 lifts spirits at Whyte and Mackay
Released: 15th May 2007

Milton Keynes, England - Whyte and Mackay, the global spirits company, has installed a mobile field sales system from O4 Corporation to boost its brands and market presence. The company, which also owns The Dalmore Single Malt, Isle of Jura Malt Whisky, Glayva Liqueur and Vladivar Vodka, has brought distribution of its brands in-house, hiring its own sales force to target some 140,000 on trade outlets in the UK.

Earlier in 2007 the company embarked on a significant campaign to boost its brands and market presence, opening a state of the art production facility. Whyte and Mackay has gone on to re brand its core range starting with Isle of Jura, Whyte&Mackay and Vladivar Vodka

The company has turned to O4 Corporation to deliver a fully automated, mobile solution for its new 80+ strong UK field sales team. Using GPRS-enabled PDAs, the O4 system aids journey plans for each Business Development Executive, then takes them through an in call process, capturing details on the outlet and customer, allowing the BDE to create a tailored branded solution. The system provides a complete customer history and even takes orders for product (which are routed directly to the wholesaler), and POS materials.

"We needed an intelligent, mobile solution that would assist our field sales team in providing the right customer service," said Rosslynn Law, Operations Director at Whyte and Mackay. "The O4 system is delivering data from our field sales team and giving them the best opportunity to develop our future business."

Marketing support is also built into the system, providing tasting notes, for example, and even delivering video presentations. The salesperson can also use the system to develop promotions such as whisky sampling evenings, creating a diary of events for the salesperson.

Once the call is complete, the data is synchronised with the central server after each call, ensuring immediacy of information.

Whyte and Mackay took the decision to go with O4 Corporation in December 2006. The core system was customised and installed in a record 14 weeks, allowing the company to push on quickly with its new strategy.
