Teradata Named in Two Dow Jones Sustainability Indices For 4th Consecutive Year

Recognised as a sustainable leader in the software industry
Released: 25th September 2013
Publisher: Whiteoaks

London, UK – For the fourth year in a row, Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the leading analytic data solutions company, was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North American Index for the software industry.

“We are pleased to have earned these prestigious designations in recognition of our corporate sustainability leadership,” said Bruce Langos, Teradata chief operations officer.

“Our efforts to protect our environment by conserving natural resources extend to instilling environmentally aware practices throughout our operations, from our global corporate processes to the individual actions of our employees and others working on our behalf. We believe that sustainable business practices are good for our world and right for our business.”

The DJSI assessment is based on in-depth analysis of financially material economic, environmental, and social practices, with a focus on industry-specific risks and opportunities. It evaluates corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards, labour practices and other areas.

Teradata’s environmental sustainability strategy addresses both its internal operations and its products, working to deliver analytic platform solutions that are energy-efficient.

Teradata’s product design innovations have increased power efficiency, improved performance-per-watt and reduced cooling requirements in data centre environments. Teradata also conserves resources in the way its products are packaged and shipped.

In 2009, Teradata launched an effort to protect the environment through its global Environmental Health and Safety programme. This programme provides guidance on implementing and complying with basic environmental, health and safety procedures within Teradata facilities and complying with regulatory requirements.

The company is recognised consistently for its sustainable business practices by the leading global sustainability rankings, including the FTSE4Good Index, the Forbes Global 2000 Leading Companies and the Maplecroft Climate Innovation Index.

Teradata is a contributing member of The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centres and business computing ecosystems, and is a signatory in the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate citizenship and sustainability initiative.
