Jaspersoft, the Intelligence Inside applications and business processes, today announced the availability of Jaspersoft 5.5, its flagship business intelligence platform for Amazon Web Services (AWS). Now, through the AWS Marketplace, customers can use the new Jaspersoft suite with additional reporting and analytic features using its revolutionary utility-pricing model.

The low total cost of ownership (TCO) for Jaspersoft’s Cloud offering has been validated through independent research from Nucleus Research. In the soon to be released report -- “Amazon Web Services and Jaspersoft - A New Way of Looking at BI in the Cloud” found that Jaspersoft and Amazon Redshift’s new utility-based model could potentially reduce the software cost associated with analytics projects by two-thirds.

"In analyzing the operational results realized by customers, Nucleus found Jaspersoft's utility-based pricing model effectively enabled pay-per-use for analytics projects, accelerating the time to value for both pilot projects and ongoing analytics operations,”  said Ian Campbell, CEO for Nucleus Research. “In particular, organizations that moved from an on-premise SQL Server-based analytics environment reduced ongoing software costs by 60 to 70 percent.”

“We love the new features for Jaspersoft for AWS. 5.5. The new charts, filters and report templates help us deliver greater insight to our customers,” said Philipp Stegmann, managing director of gps research Asia Pte. Ltd. “It’s also great to be able to try the multi-tenancy by the hour as this is an important requirement for our Cloud app.”

Jaspersoft 5.5 includes new data visualization capabilities for quicker, more interactive insight into key data trends, a new homepage for one-click access to tutorials and samples, pre-built report templates to speed the development and quality of reports, and enhanced cluster-aware caching for high availability. Jaspersoft 5.5 also includes the general availability of Jaspersoft Studio, an Eclipse-based, full re-write of the iReport Designer, the company’s signature reporting tool.

The Jaspersoft Business Intelligence suite has seen exponential growth since first being introduced on the AWS Marketplace in February 2013, surpassing 500 customers in a matter of months.

New features available with Jaspersoft 5.5:

  • New chart types, including multi-axis and scatter charts
  • Advanced time series groups, providing insight into key time-based trends and outliers
  • New home page with one-click access to functionality, tutorials and samples
  • Enhanced cluster-aware caching for high availability
  • Pre-built report templates, increase development speed and quality of web-based reports
  • Multi-tenancy, available hourly or as an annual subscription

“Thanks to the ease of use and its disruptive TCO, we continue to see rapid adoption of our Jaspersoft for AWS offering,” said Karl Van den Bergh, vice president, Products and Alliances at Jaspersoft. “With Jaspersoft 5.5 now launched on the AWS Marketplace, customers have even more compelling reporting and analytics solution available at the same low hourly rate.”
