London, October 7, 2013 – BroadSoft, Inc. today announced that SaskTel has selected the BroadWorks ® Telephony Application Server (TAS) to provide both fixed and mobile all-IP services for their business and consumer customers. BroadWorks will also support Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Unified Communications (UC) business services for SaskTel's mobile subscribers when roaming across all Canadian provinces.
SaskTel selected BroadSoft based on the company's extensive industry experience and superior capabilities, including:
- Depth and industry leadership with IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks, with over 70 deployments worldwide
- A single architecture to serve both consumer and enterprise VoLTE
- Platform flexibility and support for industry standards, enabling BroadSoft to seamlessly integrate third party technologies and applications
"The capability to deploy a single IMS architecture for delivering VoLTE and other services for both our wireless and wireline customers was a key determining factor in our selection of BroadSoft's technology," said Daryl Godfrey, chief technology officer, SaskTel. "This flexibility will enable us to create and deliver new applications and services that can be highly targeted to meet the demand of both our enterprise and consumer customers."
"BroadSoft is pleased to have been selected by SaskTel, whose innovative vision for network evolution will solidify its ability to leverage and monetize its investments in VoLTE and other next-gen technologies," said Michael Tessler, president and chief executive officer, BroadSoft. "SaskTel's business and consumer customers across Saskatchewan, and those customers that roam with their mobile devices across all Canadian provinces, will soon enjoy an even greater selection of the converged services and applications they are clamoring for, including video calling and conferencing, instant messaging, presence and web collaboration."
