The day-to-day fixing of recurring problems with the end-points that constitute a business's IT infrastructure, in the data centre, the office and out in the field, can make the lives of those in the IT department a repetitive grind.  How can they get out of this break/fix cycle to the sunny uplands of creating new value for the users they serve?

The answer lies in having the management tools to automate repetitive tasks and pre-empt problems.  However, the value of end-point management tools goes well beyond this.  They also allow the value of IT services to be quantified and for this to be reported to lines-of-business.  Wasteful usage of resources can also be identified and curtailed.  In short, IT departments demonistrate that they are running profitably and justify new investments to provide incremental value.
