Nice, France, 31 October, 2013 – Catbird®, the pioneer in security and compliance for software-defined data centres, today reinforced its commitment to EMEA by providing support for European compliance standards. Catbird will be supporting the new ISO27001:2013 certification – widely used in Europe - and the new Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards 3.0 (PCI DSS), a worldwide standard in card processing. With automated compliance enforcement mapping to these standards, Catbird vSecurity provides IT and security personnel the control and assurance they need to pass their audits.
The new ISO27001:2013 certification is the information security standard that is now accepted as best practice across the EU and globally. The certification covers a wide range of security considerations and controls to ensure that organisations manage information security risk in an effective manner.
Alongside the new ISO27001:2013 certification, Catbird also provides control, automation and compliance enforcement for other standards in cloud-based data centres, including FISMA, NIST, and HIPAA, as well as the upcoming Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards 3.0, due to be announced in November. The ISO certification and PCI DSS 3.0 will be integrated into upcoming versions of vSecurity, Catbird’s easy-to-use, and quick to deploy software-defined security solution.
“The number one concern of large institutions migrating to cloud-based computing is achieving and maintaining compliance,” said Edmundo Costa, CEO of Catbird. “Many IT heads are realising that standards such as these are seen as some of the best ways to prove to customers that their information is protected and that their services are safe to use. Uptake of the ISO and PCI standards across Europe is high, and by adding support we hope to confirm our commitment to helping private and hybrid cloud data-centres across the EU prove compliance.”
The new version of ISO27001:2013 cancels and replaces the 2005 standard and now includes a dedicated section on outsourcing, which reflects the fact that more organisations are relying on third parties to provide IT services. The 2013 certification is designed to fit alongside other management standards and will provide organisations with an internationally recognised independent verification that the company is able to manage information security, integrity and availability of all data, whether onsite or in the cloud.
Catbird will begin supporting ISO27001:2013 and PCI DSS 3.0 in Q1 2014.
Catbird is participating in the annual PCI Security Standards Council European Community Meeting in Nice, France to learn about PCI security and compliance best practices (booth 17), October 30-31, 2013.
